I also have an Alter EGO. The EGO is indeed made of titanium, but the sound is warmer rather than sharp. In the case of the EGO, I think that the fact that it is an open-back has more of an effect on the sound than the material.thanks for the sharing. you mean comparatively sharper than alter ego? but the alter ego also got Ti shell.
it seems many iems are using an acoustic enclosure of some sort and sound tube in the shell. i hence suspect the sound difference due to shell in most cases is quite small (exception maybe 64 or Fir's open driver design? not sure if they use acoustic chamber even there's no sound tube).![]()

got mine today from very friendly seller Natesdailies!
great craftsmanship but frankly i couldn't see any chamfer on the edges as claimed by the brand.
very smooth sounding all-rounder in default mode. will spend more time to enjoy and explore more on the tuning

Thinking of getting a set of these.... what is the consensus... are these worth the price... thanks
the alter ego for me is well worth it at 2nd hand price but not really exceptionally value at full retail price. the build quality is good and even an open-back design, offers quite decent passive noise isolation. i've been struggling between this and the jomo impulse ti (which has much stronger bass attack) but ended up with the alter ego as i've got a few pairs of empire ears and fir.Thinking of getting a set of these.... what is the consensus... are these worth the price... thanks
smooth and warm sounding with very good resolution with good sensitivity.
what seems could be improved upon are (mostly non-acoustic performance related):
- industrial design - actually craftmanship is good. but the design lags a few step behind average (not yet a decent standard frankly)
- the toggle looks cheap
- is the toggle really necessary? i think most people just stick with one voice. this actual applies to iems with dip switches and the 64/fir plug modules too (which no longer popular)
- the storage box couldn't house the iems with the cable!!!

Good morning from the future!!
I have been looking for the ~$2k range for best all-rounder in the $2k range (my preferences lean towards more bassy sets), and I believe these to be it!
If anyone can provide any input I would REALLY appreciate it for my sanity:
I have Symphonium Titans as my bassy set and U4S as my "balanced" set which are my overall favorites. I'm looking for the "next level" to the U4S.
I have tried Maestro SE, UM Maven II (great, but not enough of an "upgrade" to U4S to keep, and fit was an issue), and 64 Audio Volur. Would anyone think these would be a... good purchase for me? Musictek has a great deal on them, and I want to take advantage of that.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! If I pick these up, and they are what I hope they are, I'll be getting rid of U4S, as sad as I would be. They have been a great set!

@JTiizii ... to me the Alter Ego is the best IEM I have ever heard.... I'm more an over the head headphone listener... so when I got the try these at the Dallas camjam I was somewhat surprised at how great they sounded.... there's not a whole lot of info out on the web about them.. but after hearing them in Dallas I had to get a pair to compare at home with my own equipment and listening.... I was hooked... I did contact DucBloke on youtube as he had just finished with a tuning of the Alter Ego with his software... I loaded it into Wavelet and I couldn't be happier with how these sound.... they are very dynamic across the entire range... great sound stage and instrument separation... build quality is amazing... zero complaints from me... and the guys over at music teck were super easy to work with...

Thank you very much for the response! I'm fighting the urge but it seems like these will be what I have been looking for. I too was a headphone guy before I heard a good set of IEM's, Dunu DaVinci actually lol. If there is a set of IEMs that gives a headphone feel to the sound, I'm all for it!to me the Alter Ego is the best IEM I have ever heard.... I will more than likely be pulling the trigger lol. Is there a referral system on MusicTeck? If so I'd be happy to say you referred me to purchase these lol

@JTiizii Thanks for the offer on the referral, don't think they have one..... Leo helped me out from there and they all seem to be legit guys who like their products...Thank you very much for the response! I'm real interested how these sound to you so if you could let us know... with a little bit of power these scale well too...

Anyone compared the Alter Ego to the Dunu Glacier ? Although the price bracket and shells are a bit different, they're quite alike regarding their tribrid architecture, and I'm curious about a comparison between the two
Hi, I just brought mine home from MusicTeck. At CanJam I listened to @20 IEMs. From $499 ~ $6000, Alter Ego was NOT one of them.
I went to MusicTech today to listen again to 2 finalists. After talking with Leo I asked him based on our conversations are there any other sets you think I should try?
He did, I listened for 10 minutes and knew the Alter Ego is the one for me today. :>)

Hello there! I attended Canjam NY for the past 3 years and Alter Ego seems like it will be my next purchase. Not as detailed as other TOTL IEMs, but man, the texture and natural voices and warmth! I own a WM1AM2 and it just sounded analog. Can't describe it any other way. For comparisons sake, CP622B was too analytical for my liking and sounded congested in busy passages....Hi, I just brought mine home from MusicTeck. What was the other finalist on your list? How's isolation when used in public, both to you and sound leakage when others next to you hear them? Anything you don't like about them?

Ice Lab Spectrumica & UM Mest Jet black. I have not listened to the Alter Ego in a noisy environment.Hello there! Leakage = YES it does. My wife 20ft away heard them & they were not really loud.
I did not take noise isolation or leakage into the decision to purchase. I will mostly use them alone at home.
It was evident to me, when A/Bing that the Alter Ego was another step up the ladder in SQ. I was dead set on getting a TOTL IEM with bone conduction. I was & still am surprised I picked a unit without.
Tips are extremely important, more so with the Alter Ego than any other IEM/TWS I've used.
