Meet Alpha Prime

I had the Alpha Dog and have sent it in to be upgraded, however my AD'S sounded great through my lyr 2, using gold lions, a fun sounding budget tube. Though the best my lyr 2 has ever sounded is through the Telefunken E88CC platinum tubes, from Upscaleaudio. But I really enjoy my gold lions and only use the expensive tubes, when I want to hear more lush, resolving detail from my music.

Been lovin the Prime w/ the lil' Lambert PlayItByEar that I used in my review for Headphone.Guru - 
tried a few tweaks and the combo is awesome.

Same is true w/ the LAu or Liquid Crimson of course

and DIG it w/ the WA7 Fireflies!!
 
The Prime is just a lot of FUN to crank music on...

What do you think of that $800 Nordost cable?

Hailing originally from the high-end audio two-channel world,
Nordost have been my top reference cables in my stereo system since the late-nineties...
 
So, I was BUGGIN' Joe Reynolds (President of Nordost - known Joe since 1996) to get his A-team
on some headphone cables for a long time!! And I was PUMPED when they did the headphone cable w/ Heimdall2!!
Because I actually prefer Heimdall2 to the higher-end stuff (like Valhalla and such) - as I just find the cable plays well with more components!
 
So, I had unreasonably HIGH expectations of the Nordost Heimdall2 Headphone Cable!!
 
But, w/ the Alpha Prime, and especially my HD800s and Audeze LCD-2F, I love its synergy - the result of the pairing is magnificent: As transparent as I've heard, dynamic, and detail retrieval galore! Both micro and macro-dynamics. I also love the mid-band with these pairings - and the low end slam and extension.

 
Ya see, my idea of a great cable is one that acts like NO cable at all - one that doesn't impart itself sonically onto the system (or as little as possible).
 
So I dig it - though I know its very expensive!
 
The only cables I enjoy more at the moment are a few Double Helix Cables by @scootermafia
DHC Comp4 dual XLR
DHC Comp4 SE (1/4")
and Brand New DHC Comp Series Cable w/ adapter set!! (gotta get the exact model, pictures below):

I tried it with the AK100 II. Sounded very good.
It did miss some very low bass.

I love the Alpha Prime w/ the AK240 - utilizing the 2.5mm TRRS balanced output!
 
I use Double Helix Cables Molecule Elite balanced w/ the 240 - 
and the synergy is fantastic: Silky mids, wide and deep soundstage, excellent low-end, and the highs are nice and detailed without a hint of brightness!

I've been thinking about this...
But I don't compare products in reviews - as I believe the product being reviewed should be judged on its own merit (as many cans differ in design philosophy and certainly execution, etc.) - 
 
But - I have both, and love em - but the XC has remained my number ! closed-back planar
but the Prime is really damn good
 
maybe I should tackle this - hey, its not a review on a site  - I'd be doing this for the love of it here on HF...

They are both awesome cans. I am not talking about a better or worst comparison, just a description of how they sound compared to each other. These seem to be the TOTL closed cans available. Could you speak on the Mids and Bass with the Prime in comparison with the LCD-XC. Thanks....
