I'm also interested an anyone who have tried the 2nd gen vs the 1st

I went ahead and ordered the MEElectronics HT-21 (2nd gen) from Newegg ($13 after promo code + free s/h).  Just looking at the specs it seems that they did improve these a bit. about the only difference I can tell is that the logo on the cans is different.

I received my MEElectronics HT-21 (2nd gen) and gave them a listen.  I also recently got a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears 4000 and 6000 to compare them against.  I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I'll do my best to compare the HT-21's to the 4000, as they are both on-ear headphones.

The HT-21's definitely feel lighter weight wise, and of lesser construction than the UE4000 and UE6000.  Then again the retail costs of the UE's were $99 and $199, respectively, versus a $40 retail cost of the HT-21's.

The HT-21's do sound pretty good for what I paid for them ($13).  But they do not sound as good, or are as comfortable, as the 4000's.  I think this is because the ear pieces of the 4000's do a great job of resting on the ears.  The HT-21's seem a bit stiff in comparison, so they do not seal as well.  This could be an advantage if you plan on wearing them while on a bike or walking around town as you will have some noise coming in to be aware of your surroundings.  If you are into modding, I think improving the foam on the earpieces would be a big improvement.

As for a $13 dollar pair of headphones, I can say that they are pretty good buy.  They sound much better than other $20 and less headphones that I've bought in the past.  In a quiet room the highs and mids sounds clear to me, and for their size they give good bass.

I have not listened to the HT-21s (2nd gen) in comparison to the HT-21 (1st gen).  But looking from the specifications it looks like they did improve on them.  I hope that helps.

Edit:  just some further thoughts after a few days of using them in the office and comparing them to other headphones in the same price range.  Short answer:  I am really liking these more and more both from a quality of construction and sound, and for the cost.  For instance, the construction of these are a couple of grades higher than other headphones I've spotted around the office (Sennheiser HD201's, some JVCs, etc).  Little details like the metal band in the head-piece, the use of micro-screws instead of plastic clips, or the ear foam design that allows one to quickly and easily remove and re-install the ear pieces.
I also tried going back to my HD201s for a comparison, but those now feel very very cheep in comparison.  I don't think I will be using my HD201s for much longer.

Note:  These are currently $15 at amazon (with free shipping over $35) and if you need a set of throw-in-the bag headphones, loaners, gifts, or work desk headphones, I'd recommend getting a pair.

I had the old M9 a couple years ago and always liked it. While having decent sound, it was not top tier sound even in its price range, but the build and packaging and service from Meelec were all of the highest quality. With the talk of this newer model having improved sound quality along with being smaller and having the same world-class build and packaging from Meelec, naturally I had to pick one up.

It shipped this morning and I'll give my impressions here next week when it shows up.

I never actually heard the original M9, I did hear the original M6 though at some point in my life (when I first got into audio...  That was a while ago...).  I do have the new, old M9 on hand, they are actually great IEMs for 10 bucks, not going to lie...  They put shame to quite a few IEMs 4-5 times their price.

Glad to hear that.
And you didn't mention one of the best customer service ever  .

I got the M9 MKII a couple days ago, very quick arrival from Meelec. Sadly, the left earpiece has very bad driver flex and it actually makes the IEM unsuable. I have not yet contacted them though I'm sure it will go smoothly.

Talk about an about-face!

l was experimenting on my old Meelectronics SP51 last night and made a new discovery!

So, whoever owns the Meelectronics SP51 and has spare small foam tips from Sidy must try this!

Configuration:
1. Meelectronics SP51
2. Small foam tips from Sidy
3. Black tuning port

The small tips will fit a person with medium ears perfectly because of the wider and longer nozzle and the small housing of the SP51. Fits perfect in my medium size ears!.....Note: If you use large ear tips? Than try the medium foam tips to get the fit needed.

But, get a load of the sound!

Try it with my configuration above!!!

Results: Beautifully balanced, clear mids and highs, clean sub-bass and mid-bass, and great soundstage! No harshness, sibilant and treble peaks. Just a smooth, open and spacious sound signature!

Who ever owns these, just try it!

I'm going to make the assumption that it's alright to post to a zombie thread...

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this forum, although I'm a part of another which is the Keyboard Corner (the Keyboard Magazine forum). Still not too happy that I can't update my profile, but I can understand why the moderators made that decision. I'll update when I'm able to do this.

Well, this is my experience with the fine company MEElectronics. Hope you enjoy reading it.

I should mention that I'm coming from a musician's point of view, and up until just recently, I wasn't a big fan of the IEM on stage kind of thing. Here's why: I was coming from trying out every, single, Shure SE earphone, and none of them would work for me. The entry-level models had a tenth of the bass I wanted, the others also didn't really impress me with their sound either (I even tried out the SE846s with NO luck). And my other gripe was that every single model in the line felt bulky in my ear, and I couldn't get used to it (also, the memory wire was HARDLY a memory wire...just some plastic to make the cord thicker and harder to deal with).

I was recently (about a half a year ago) introduced to MEElectronics, and that's when my opinion on stage IEM changed completely. Here's the story: I bought the M6s. Right out of the box they looked fantastic. I was really excited to try them out, and when I did I could not have been more disappointed. I tried the dual-flange tips that came with them, and my music sounded a bit like I was listening to a tin can.

Then I thought: But wait...this thing came with other ear tips too... So I tried the single flange, and still not much better. I wasn't going to give up just yet. I've never, ever put "christmas tree" tri-flanges  in my ear before, but they came with them (and MEElectronics outlines that the listener should try out each of the tips first), so I tried the largest of the triple flanges included, and PRESTO - my music! I've never ever in my life heard any music sound so good out of ANY earphone. But it was time to put them to the test for what I originally bought them for: in ear stage monitoring. Well, I'll just go ahead and say that I never want to hear any of my keyboards through another set of in ears. I should mention that up until that point I would always keep a set of studio phones (Audio-Technica ATH-M40fs') right nearby for practicing silently; the M6s have replaced them completely. But what about my original problems with the Shure SE line? Bulky, crummy memory wire, no bass? Well guess what? The M6s have all three covered: awesome bass, a very small design that fits nice and comfortably in the ear, and a memory wire that actually CONFORMS TO MY EAR. Hear that Shure?

Two things to note: although I've been a musician for many years (and a big vinyl guy), I wouldn't consider myself an "Audiofile", so to speak. However, I like to think that I know what sounds good and what sounds bad; to me, I think I've finally found the earphone that is absolutely perfect for what I do. The other thing would be that I'm not at all associated with MEElectronics, however I've had some of the best experiences I've ever had a consumer with their customer service (Cheryl & Mike - you guys rock!). Glad I found this fantastic brand, and I look forward to what the future brings for them (and looking forward to receiving my new M9 Classics and giving my thoughts)!

 good to hear that.

Either at CES 2015 or by Spring 2015. There were times when MEELEC delayed their announcements for the CES event like with the EDM Universe Headphones.

At least they have this:
