Yikes, looks like I'll be getting a E888 soon.

Any links with images or in a language I can read (English/Spanish)?

I wouldn't be surprised to see an upgrade to the erstwhile 888's. However, why would anyone deem it to be "worse quality" until they actually heard it?

It's not going to be easy to improve on the old standard Fonotopia bud.

It is said that 999 will be produced in the Philippines instead of in Janpan.
And the quality is SUPPOSED to be not good as 888.
That is all I know about it from the Chinese forum.
Forgive my translation.

i think this is pretty much all rumours and heresay. for one thing, following the logic of past Sony high end earbuds; MDE-E282, 484, 888 (i believe there was no 585 or 787), then the new earbuds should be MDR-E989? am i correct?

although if the rumours are correct about the new earbud being inferiot to the current E888, better stock up with a spare pair. i'm holding on to my three (one gold LP, on silver LP, one silver SP) pairs!

they'd just presume since it will be made in the phillipines, the sound would not be good. its just an assumption. but most sony earphones are made in china and japan. i seldom see on that is made in the philipines.

Well, when the top-end sony discman models reached D-EJ999, the next one rolled over to D-EJ1000, and then the next year it was the D-EJ2000...something like that.

I'd expect their earbuds to follow the same pattern.

I would be very surprised if the new top of the line earbuds from Sony will be made in Philliphines. The EX70Lp along w/ NC11 are now made in Malaysia. Made in Malaysia should be more reasonable.

I realise this thread died, but I'm wondering if the rumbalings in it about a Sony MDR-E999 came true or if as I suspect they where so much golf ball sized listlessness?

Of course...the 999 was the 925 in the US...and they continued using our designations for the lower models, hence the 955 and 985...O_O, and they made things weirder when they ahd the D-E551,555,556, etc all be the same thing, yucko!
