Eric didn't want to open up the Pandara box because it can be dangerous for those that don't understand the limitations.
By modifying the 6J5 socket to 6V6, essentially you can use any pin compatible tubes as 6v6, in the 6j5 sockets but the limitations is in the current that the power supply can deliver to the drivers.
For standard Ultimate using the original power supply, the drivers limit is ~ 1A.
New Ultimates use a slightly bigger power supply and that limit is now increase to 1.5a for drivers.
If you use 5 volt rectifier, it uses a separate filament power supply thereby freeing up all 2.5A for drivers.
