I'm asking to simplify the equation. Think of the asterik signs not being there.

The first part would read out as 2 + 2 / 2. Then, the second part would be 2 + 2 / 2 again, but the denominator from the first part is being used as the numerator.

That's not mathematically right. You can have several "layers" of division on top of each other, but it doesn't work with additions.
