Master Clock Talk

I like it very much however. I have powered it from my ATX/PSU and it creates a noise/tonevariations through the chain when the computer is shut off.

I bought external psu for it. If it makes the same weird tone/frequency variation I can not recommend it. I hopefully suspect the Corsair AX1600i even though I power two CBS220 switches from it without issues.

I will report back as soon as I have tested iPower X on the Masterclock this weekend😊👍

Sound is awesome absolutely no issues after boot/logon to Windows
Out of curiosity, is there a way to turn off that big green LED display on the front?

you mean the PWR LED? - thats actually always on/ when it is powered ofcourse. There are no extra buttons or switches on the outside. Maybe inside I dont know

Ahhh, so maybe the one I found is not the same as yours:

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!

Avoid the adjustable output units.
Go for the simplest ones with the least amount of circuitry.
Also avoid the square wave units as the sine>square converter circuit in the BG7TBL is extremely primitive.

If buying a BG7TBL clock box for 10MHz use with audio, this is the one you want, just $87:

With BG7TBL clock boxes it will always be a crapshoot as to the actual phase-noise performance of the OCXO in the unit they ship you. But for the low price there is little risk. On our bench (with a $30K Microsemi 53100A phase-noise analyzer) the BG7TBL box I bought years ago plots FAR better than a number of other Asian brand boxes that seem to be popular in this thread.

Use the best power supply you can, use only the sine wave output, and use this Mini-Circuits filter at the end of a semi-rigid clock cable:
https://www.minicircuits.com/WebStore/dashboard.html?model=BLP-10.7+
(Also in-stock at Mouser: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mini-Circuits/BLP-10.7+?qs=vvQtp7zwQdPVkj3kr/b9Bg==
and at DigiKey: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/mini-circuits/BLP-10-7/20526992 )

If you use the sine wave output then you can ignore all matching of clock/cable/device impedance matching. That matters ONLY for square wave clocks.

This is excellent advice - thank you so much! I will snag one and report back to how it sounds vs my Aune clock.

I have the same problem with external powersupply. My Afterdark X1 has never had this problem with OCK-2.

As soon as the computer shutsdown it makes that noise....
'
To solve this problem I shutdown the whole chain first and lastly the computer. I think it is something regarding power setting in my bios. Will report back if I solve it

@TheRealDz to update you on the solution I found. It was all DI20HE that made the problem.

The master clock works flawlessly. No issues at all.

To solve my problem I have to wait turning on the DI20HE. On reboot I have to switch input from SPDIF to USB. Back again at logon screen

My configuration is. PC connects to DDC U18 using USB cable. U18 goes to DAC Musician pegasus by I2S, Musician pegasus to Pre Musician Monoceros by XLR wire. The amplifier I use is a pair of Mono NuPrime STA-9.
I would not invest in masterclock unless you atleast use it on a dac as first priority. That is my experience on my system. DAC benefit more than my DDC/DI20HE

Thank you. I was going to try OCK-2 with U18, but seeing your advice like that, I had to stop this project.
Don’t take my word for it. It will maybe improve your DDC. There must be some users who have it.

I am just saying from my priority perspective. I will not buy a masterclock unless I have a DAC with clock…or I need one to make a unit work, my ethernet adapter does not work without masterclock.

to see if other people use it like me. and is there any improvement?
