Massdrop x Noble X Universal IEMs Review / Preview
Apr 20, 2017 at 8:25 AM Post #481 of 766

After many hours of listening to the Noble X, I have to say that these are well deserving the original $500MSRP. These compare with my Earsonic SM64s really well in terms of sound performance and quality. Expect a SM64 v Noble X showdown review in the next week or so :D. Tip rolling is important with these. The included foam tips muffles makes it sound muddled to my ears while the silicone tips sounded fine.

Thanks

We plan on offering a special service for proud owners of the Noble X

????? this is some crazy stuff you are doing for the community @ $250

I assume a Wizard shell service? I'm not a Noble X owner but I am interested in buying one if it drops again. It would be nice to be able to choose Wizard design while purchasing for extra charge, if it drops again.

Obsidyen is on the correct page.   There would be a fee for such service, which is in line with other Wizard Universals offered on the Noble web page.

The preliminary plan for this service is:

Three designs will be offered.

1) Black Meteorite

2) Blue Meteorite

3) Black Matrix

  1. One Design built per month  (example 1st month Black Meteorite        2nd month Blue Meteorite       3rd month  Black Matrix)
  2. 100 sets built per month
  3. $200 service fee
  4. Build time 4 weeks, from the date they reach the assembly facility

IEMs would be shipped to the California office, and bulk shipped on a pre-determined date.  (so if one wants to participate, you best get a seat on the train ASAP, before the train leaves, as you will miss that months build cycle)

  1. Shipping costs to the California office is the customers burden
  2. Shipping costs of the finished product backed to the California office is Noble's burden (will be bulk shipped with other finished products)
  3. Shipping costs from the California office back to the customer will be the customers burden

Do keep in mind, there may be additional taxes assessed on the IEMs as they are shipped back to the customer, and it is the customers burden to pay the assessed tax.  (if any are applied)

Due to the nature of this hand work, only 3 sets a day can be built and this slow pace prevents this type of service to be directly connected to Massdrop sales (future or past)

So if you are interested in this service, you will be required to deal directly with Noble.

Send a PM if you are interested.   At this point in time we have yet to set up our website to accept such orders.

They all look beautiful. Sadly I can't afford them at the moment :joy:

Very nice but, to be honest, I'd prefer it if more attention was given to ensuring that a better selection of eartips is available.

Just as the shell service is ancillary to the purchase of the Noble x, so too are, pelican cases, blue tooth cables, third party premium eartips (spin fit, comply etc) and custom cables.

A larger selection of eartips can be found on the noble website along with pelican cases, blue tooth cables (bts) and even t shirts if one requires

@FullCircle, why hasn't Massdrop started a new drop for the Noble X x Massdrop? There are now over 1600 requests. Do you have any clout with Massdrop to get another drop started?

Pretty sure he could snap his fingers and have one if he wanted it, with how successful its been!

I bet its more a question of resources and cost/gain analysis.

No matter what, Noble is getting their name into lots of mouths...and grooming even more people who will be interested in their next Noble iem... now that they already have their first.

Simply put, they are a customer, they decide when and if to make a purchase.

Thanks for the reply. With over 1600 requests, I can't understand why Massdrop hasn't had a second drop. If it wasn't for the bad previews here, I would not have cancelled my order on the first drop... :frowning2:

I'm not sure what's available on the US website as I automatically get redirected to the UK website but there's only a set of mixed eartips available here and it's not clear what you're buying. Of the tips that came with these I find the large foams pretty good but could do with them being slightly bigger to get a firmer fit. They have a tendency to work loose. I'm thinking of cutting the inner cores off some of the silicon tips and putting these on the earphones before the foam tips to stretch the foam out slightly. Anyone tried this? I don't want to damage the one set of foam tips I have for these.
