Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones
Jun 19, 2015 at 2:37 AM Post #6,361 of 6,783
I used my Martin Logan at work today (I let the SR325e take a rest) and I still love them.  I had not used M90 since I bought the Grados a couple of months ago.

I also have 325e. They are my favourites. I can hear the similarities between them. I got the Momentum over ear 2.0 for a very good price. But I got a hard time to stand the top that is lacking so much. They a like opposite of the Mikros. The ting is that Momentum does isolate sound better so aothers aurand don't get disturbed.

I'm really glad for the Makros 90 right now with only ten hours on them. And a got them for 64$.

I owned and enjoyed the 325i in their day, but really don't miss them anymore.
The Mikros 90 have curbed my desires, quelled my musings, to "reclaim" former favorite headphones that have since been sold.
However, I would still like to get ahold of a pair of the discontinued DT880/2003.
Almost bought a pair of the K501 the other day.
Favorite "classic" mid-fi 'phones: Sennheiser HD600, AKG K501, Beyerdynamic DT880/2003, Denon D2000.

My favorite portables vs your favorite portables.

This should be interesting.

The Beyers don't have a detachable cable, so it doesn't look good for the 1350 already.

I almost went for the 1350's during the last massdrop deal, but somehow resisted. I also tried them about a year ago and returned them because I was a bit pressured at the time, and also because their clamping force pressured my cranium a bit much (but probably about the same as the 90's come to think of it). My guess is that that you will end up liking your 90's more (they seem more balanced to me, and you love the 90's lol), but I loved the bass of the 1350's.

Anyway, looking forward to your impressions!

Wayne,
Thanks for the input.
I don't understand why neither the MT-220 nor the DT-1350 comes with a detachable cable option.
Just sold my Oppo PM-1s.
. . . and the MT-220 may be next after the next round of comparisons.

First Round to the Mikros 90.
John Williams playing Faure's Pavane/William Goodchild conducting the String Orchestra.
The DT-1350 sound a touch cold and more than a touch clinical alongside the Mikros 90 [bhazard stock pair with Ted's UP-OCC copper cable].
Tonally complex and beautifully nuanced, the Mikros 90 are, to my ears, clearly superior to the Beyers.
Ditto for microdynamics.
Maybe the DT-1350 need break-in, but at this point they may not be granted tenure beyond a few short weeks ahead.
I will say that the Beyers sound spacious, despite their diminutive earpads, with ample detail.  Arid and comparatively blunt in the treble, more forward yet a touch lean in the midrange and with [as-yet] an unfocused and too-reticent bass.
Albeniz: Asturis . . . and the Mikros 90 . . . [easily] win my ears over again . . .   The vigorous strumming comes off sounding confined and even shouty with the Beyers.
Any word on break-in time for the DT-1350?
Maybe I should just let them run for the next few days off the Denon receiver downstairs.

Enjoying the Bed of Roses soundtrack with the DT-1350.
Very open-sounding.
Just bought the Oppo PM-3 for the ultimate portables showdown.

Pm3 and 90's... that'll be a good punch up! I really enjoyed the pm3's when I auditioned them.
