Hi all,

I noticed these marks on the connector of my SPDIF cable that was feeding my DAC. Does anyone know what could have caused the marks?

Thanks in advance for any help on this as I’m not sure what has happened here.

Andy.

Who knows these days with these kinds of parts sold for pennies per thousand. I would guess the plating was not done properly. It also looks as if perhaps something leaked out from the barrel.

Maybe pitch it and spend a few quid for a decent cable.

To be honest I thought it would be a reasonable quality first cable.

It cost £100 (€/$120).

I will send the image to Chord Company to see what they have to say as I’m disappointed.

I just switched to a Supra Excalibur USB cable to feed my DAC, which was about the same cost. Hopefully this is a reasonable starting point for a USB cable.
