sound isolating is not what I expected,
it's about the level of comply foam.

Im suprised this thread is so small, is there one else where?
 
I was expecting to read about people taking this idea to the next level, eg. perhaps using their existing iem's as the template mold with the putty so the whole process could be refined and repeated without putting them in your ears.
 
Is anyone aware of people using earbuds as the sound source? Ive found that cheap earbuds usually sound better than expensive iem's so if is possible it could be a much better way to go.
