How much does the Technics RP-DJ1200A / 1210 go for in Aus?

The RP-DJ1200s go for $239AUD.
The RP-DJ1210E's go for $299 AUD.
They are sold under Panasonic here though (even though they are the same thing...).

Hmmmm... Comparatively speaking that's not a bad price at all for the 1210.

Take a listen to them. I was quite pleasantly surprised. There are better closed phones, but I'd rather grab these than a DT250-80 (even with an amp) for portable use.

I think the HDJ-1000's may supplant my V700DJ's for a while but the HDJ-1000 is still pretty V700-like: Too unbalanced for most general music, especially the quieter sort. The Technics/Panasonics do it a lot better while delivering very good isolation and a folding capability - and also work perfectly well in any environment without an amp.

As above.
And for the record, I can't find a single freakin pair of V7506s in this whole city. They also have a SRP on par with the V700s.

Don't go to consumer audio stores. Go to pro music stores - you know, where they sell keyboards, rackmount kit, etc. You can probably find them easily enough there. I can here but I'm not going to buy a 7506 (especially for £139.99 - which is more than what I paid for the HD600 minus the Cardas cable!) if I can borrow one.

PS. Yes, American Head-Fiers, you heard me right. You can buy an HD600 here for less than the equivalent of a V6.

Then can we assume that the HD280's are even more of a bargain for a closed can, on your side of the pond?

Not really - the 280's go usually for about £100 in the shops, maybe £80 if you shop around on the web a bit. The DT250-80's go for slightly more.

Interesting. It seems that the low prices of the HD600 in Europe have eliminated the market for HD580's over there. While here in the U.S., the 580's are positioned well against the 600's, and other higher-end cans.

Magicthyse:

These RP-DJ1210E's, they comfy? How stylish? How do they sound against the D66s? I might have trouble finding some, so I ask.

Also, the only store that I know of that carries the V7506s has changed its name. So I got no idea. I've been to two different stores are they looked at me weird. Perhaps he saw my MX500s?

Oops, lemme read your review first.
