I've heard that the amp in the M-audio AV40 is actually works as a fairly decent headphone amp (class A/B). Does anyone know if this is true or have any experience? I'm looking at getting these and I have a pair of Grado SR-60s. Thanks in advance.

Don't know how much this applies... But I have the M-audio DX4's. I've tried plugging in hd600's to them. I don't recall thinking it was anything special. However, I did have to turn the volume knob considerably...to maybe the 12 o'clock region at least..to get decent volume.

I thought..this quite troublesome, because I don't ever turn up the volume knob to 12 o'clock region for normal speaker uses, and thought if the headphone cable were to accidentally get pulled out- it might be bad times.
