Anyone with Cayin RU7 can tell if RU7 or W4 is the better dongle?

I have W4-EX and RU7, and in my opinion both are good, albeit different.

Very in short, W4 is more analytical and much more sparing in energy consumption. RU7 has a warmer sound.

W4 is better. No EMI issue. Do not get hot. Do not drain the battery quickly, and it sound much better.
With more expensive IEMs, W4 sounds 2x better. RU7 to me, has a timbre problem, it sounds unnatural, and it loses control over the instruments with too short decay.
Tonality-wise, W4 is more neutral, while RU7 is slightly V-shaped. W4 is more digital, while RU7 is closer to analog, but still, sounds digital.

It's a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone has a Galaxy Fold 5 and is using it with their W4?
I was at an audio store comparing the W4 and the RU7 today and for some reason the W4 just would only connect to my phone 10% of the time. The RU7 worked flawlessly every time. This was a real shame as I found the W4 to be really good actually when it did work, and paired with my IEMs better than the RU7 did.

Perhaps the store didn't have the updated firmware on their unit..? Any input would be appreciated, thanks all!

Tried a few cables including the stock cable and all had the same issue. I've asked Jaben about the firmware, hopefully an update will fix it.

Yep, Snapdragon 8gen2 indeed. L&P customer service indeed confirmed over email to me that the latest firmware is to address 8gen2 chip support, so I guess I'm waiting for Jaben to update their unit and I'll test after..

Honestly I am not 100% sure, when I was having trouble connecting I handed the stuff over to the helpful staff member who unfortunately couldn't get it to connect as well.
I'll try both modes when I head back

I see. Will I could be wrong but unless you are using USB audio music player app for android I would stick to USB 1.0. This format is more universal and should work with Android music players, Spotify, and YouTube, etc.

The setting is UAC. Change it to 1.0.

How do I choose USB 1.0 v 2.0?

I have just received the L&P W4 two hours ago. It only connected to my iPhone via the supplied Lightning/USB-C stock cable. Any other cables like ddHiFi and iFi and Shanling simply will not connect. Is this normal or the issue addressed with the latest firmware?

Does anyone find the W4 underpowered? I am pushing Sennheiser IE900 at high gain / 55-60dB on the W4 whereas on Shanling UA5 and Cayin RU-6, with only half the power of the W4 214 mW at 32 ohm, I am only at 30dB at high gain.

AFAIK, UAC 1.0 is used for devices like Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation, it can be chosen by pressing the menu button in W2, so I think that in W4 you can try to push the volume knob to iterate through the menu setting. There are some members also said that W4 only works with their iPhones with the stock cable, I do not own W4, so let's wait for the others to confirm.
