Also, worth getting this Fidue balanced mmcx cable: http://penonaudio.com/FIDUE-A83-2.5-3.5mm-MMCX-Cable - you get 2.5mm TRRS terminated output and a matching adapter from 2.5mm to 3.5mm.  The 3.5mm side is also balanced, but it works without a problem with single ended 3.5mm TRS (tested with PAW Gold ok).  Need to test with more DAPs, but so far so good.  It's their A83 cable with a universal mmcx connector and balanced termination with adapter.

This is interesting. Will it work with other IEMs/CIEMs with MMCX connection?

Yes, it's universal mmcx.  I actually just posted a little write up about it with lots of pics: http://www.head-fi.org/t/725161/fidue-a83-impressions-and-discussion-thread/2865#post_12343101

The only thing to keep in mind, it's for balanced connection, both 2.5mm TRRS (A&K style) and with an adapter for 3.5mm TRRS (HiFiMAN style).

Thanks for the heads up! I guess I'll just stick to my Linum MMCX BaX cable since I am pretty much sure I won't be able notice the difference between the two cables.

one thing i am looking forward to is the background hiss comparison with other players, since the promotion mentioned the effort put in it for iems. for me, it needs to be at least X7 + AM1 level, even the L5 pro did not meet.

From the earlier performance tests and data from Chinese forum,  the noise floor level is -112 dB for X7 with default amp card, -102 dB for L5 Pro, and -115 dB for L3.

so my hearing gets the same result as the measurement states and -100dB SNR still has hiss for some iems. contrary to some may believe, there is still room for improvement in performance of daps. i believe those SNR measurements are done at quite high volume outputs and i listen with sensitive iem at very low volume(10/ultra low on L5p), so the SNR in this real life case is not that good.

not here to do the math and argue about numbers, just glad i ordered the L3 in time.

I think you are messing up SNR(signal noise ratio) and Noise floor level measurement, but I guess they are somewhat related. The data I put up basically means X7 does have lower noise floor than L5 Pro, which some sensitive IEMs like SE846 will have less hissing on X7, but it is rather minimal in L5 Pro already. L3 should have X7's performance regarding to hissing if not better.

10/Ultra low is like, literally very little sound...I use 24/low with SE846.

thank you for you correction, but i may forget this in another few hours ^_^. whatever that number means, give me less hiss and good music!!!

What file formats does L&P DAPs support? I think I've read from the other thread that an update is coming for L&P DAPs to support AAC. Is Apple format currently not supported?
