Thanks for the impressions.

If I were to get it I would be importing from Japan and use a step-down converter as we go on 240Hz here.

I believe PriceJapan (whom I used to get my JVC HP-DX1000) sell good quality power converters with the unit.

I have no idea how these converters actually work, but I've only heard bad things about them; e.g. degrade the sound.

For me, I already had a P-500 which can output 110V, so it wasn't a problem - using the P-1 this way probably sounds better than connecting a 120V model straight into the wall anyway.

Hmmmmmm, that does put a damper on things.

Here's an update:
I just discovered that the XLR polarity of the P-1 is reversed, so I pressed the phase reverse button on the P-1. Immediately, clarity improved and veil (for lack of better words) removed; I now no longer consider the P-1 a warm amp.

Here are some interior photos of the P-1 that I found on a Japanese BBS. My apologies for the poor quality; I didn't take these photos:

Nice find. Reminds me that I've got to try out the P-200 sometime.

Realize that is the Japanese model so to use it properly you need a voltage transformer. Also if there are warranty issues it would need to be sent to Japan.

Yes, but the ad states the following:

# Accessories
# Free voltage transformer to convert electricity in destination country (110~120V or 220~240V) to 100V.
