I owned the SQ-N100 before the 505u -- strongly prefer the latter with my Harbeths and various phones. More power, more dynamic; without the sheen of the EL-84 mids, but overall a more satisfying sound to my ears. The 505u has received relatively little attention as an HP amp, but it's very competitive with the lesser Lux dedicated models to my ears. And as a speaker amp, it's a monster.

My favourite second-hand dealer here has a 507u and the DA-200 in stock, so I might see if I can't go tomorrow and have a listen.  They have a sale on so they might be pretty busy though.  Next year I'm considering doing a deal whereby if someone wants to buy, say, a DA-200, I'd be willing to buy one here (as long as they'll support international voltages) but borrow it for a couple of weeks to evaluate first.

It's a toss-up between the city and looking for Sony Z1000s, which is more convenient by train, or going to the shop, which is far from the nearest station, by car.  I might score lucky though and find both the Sonys and the Luxman in the city though.

According to this source, the DA-200 internal amp is based on the P-200 and not on the P1u, which probably makes more sense at this price point.

I can't really figure out wether the USB input is asynch or not. Thanks if you have any further info on this unit (remote control would be a huge plus).

I might be wrong but near the USB input a I saw a chip likely to be the Tenor 7022L, IOW not async.

Its basically a DAC derived from D-05 CDP with an opamp similar to p-1u; however, since its not discrete, the amp itself is not powerful as a lesser P-200 amp.
 
as a DAC:  very high performance, similar to the Luxman SACDP D-05 (300,000yen ~ $3580 as of now)
as an amp:  high performance, though not strong as P-200 amp
