Sad news indeed.. I was fortunate enough To see Luther live in the 80's........... quite the showman he was........... this is very sad news. I'm stunned.......... 54 is very young.

i saw Luther live at MJ's brithday bash on 9/10/01. Crazy weekend as you can imagine. But out of all that weirdness I remember Luther destroying 98Degrees when they sang "Man in the Mirror" together. He blew the roof off the Garden!

Damn... And I was just slowly getting into his music too. I guess he couldn't beat his poor health. I felt pretty much the same way when Barry White passed on, I really dug his sound alot in comparison though. I guess we can all be glad the music lives on, yeah?

this is very sad news, I had just discovered him via the "Killing Me softly" single which I had never heard before. It was recommended by a good friend and I have grown to like it.
I sure hope to discover more of his legacy soon
