To me music selection is very poor with either Amazon HD/Tidal or Apple HD. I barely find any artists that I'm interested and these platforms are not sufficient for musical digging. No access for qobuz in my country, but I believe it would yield similar results.

Youtube's library beats any streaming service by far margin and soundcloud is a good platform once you fallow the right artists and labels.

For casual listening I use spotify as it's an ease to use across multiple devices. In case I run into album that I really enjoy I buy a digital or an LP depending on music genre and which setup it will fit more

So nothing happened after July 2022??? I just got the free 2 month offer from Qobuz. I have been with Tidal (and Roon) for a long time and do feel fine (had the MQA subscription, but not back to CD quality). So why should I be tempted to change?

I like Tidal the best because it sounds the best, but I will likely get a mac so I can use Apple Music for streaming Japanese music unfortunately. Tidal doesn't do Japanese music unfortunately. I need an Apple device for WASAPI.

Apple Music app on Windows is not stable. It freezes for some reason. I hate the UI, but I do need to listen to Japanese music. It's my only way to discover new Japanese music.

Quboz tells you high bit rate, but don't let that fool you into thinking it sounds the best. It's just numbers.

yea, i rather listen to tidal in CD quality in firefox than using chromium which supports high res but chromium is resampling on its own (Linux.... no tidal app)

Qobuz and Tidal both sound fine, even listening to deezer for a while.... i was just surprised how crappy amazon HD sounds for some reason

Yeah, I was never impressed with Amazon HD's sound quality during my trials.

Like many things in Bezos world, Amazon seems to have a high-res streaming service only to tick a box on Bezos' plan for world domination. It's a lot like Prime Video -- a red-headed stepchild to Netflix, Max and Showtime.

I agree Amazon isn't even good in exclusive mode. I got the premium Spotify and it's 320kbps, and it sounds better than Apple Music. I like the sound quality of Spotify not even if exclusive mode.

Night and day difference when I went from non-premium to premium. Sounds very very good. I recommend yall to give it a try. I notice better imaging the most with Spotify. With good dynamics.

Qobuz has the most detail and best soundstage whilst Tidal is warmer and bassier. I use either service depending on what headphone I am using.

hqplayer also adds to it, but i know some people use hqplayer without roon, it's just convenient for me
I don't like hqplayer either. Without DSP it's a standard player with standard sound.
The main feature of hqplayer is in sound processing. The main feature of Roon is in the output of additional information. I don't need either. I prefer to listen to original releases in the best quality. Information about serious albums is quite enough in the accompanying booklets. And I don't need to read his biography every time I listen to Bach.
