Just curious what would be my best option if I wanted to upgrade my system. I've basically got 3 components that I can upgrade, my dac, my amp, or my headphones.

My Setup:

Computer with all of my music in Lossless

Nuforce uDac ($100 but supposedly really good for the price)

Heed Canamp ($400ish again supposedly compares to amps in the 500-600 range)

AKG K702 ($250)

What part of my setup do you think I should upgrade?

Yea I was thinking I needed to upgrade my dac. I'm thinking of getting a v-dac, although its a little bit more than I would like to spend. It seems odd that the headphones may end up being the cheapest part of my setup.

What kind of music do you listen to? A different pair of headphones might suit you better - I find that headphones make the largest difference in sound quality after the recording itself. The Heed is a capable amp, too, and can drive lots of different headphones well. The DAC? I only replace sources if there's a problem with them. If you're not getting distortion, hiss, or other audible faults, it's probably good enough. However, you might get more enjoyment from something like a HD-650, DT880, or RS-1 depending on what you listen to.
