Hi! I'm looking for a new headphones and was pretty clueless about it. a good friend of mine recommended me to come here to ask for help about it.
Basically i'm looking for one to use with my desktop. No sound cards.I would prefer very good isolation since i live in an apartment with noisy neighbors.
have been using the MDR-NC13 for the past 2-3 years and it's dying on me now. also preferably to be under $130 in price range, since i'm still a student. Thanks!

As far as suggestions:
 
1. You could get a gently used Beyer dt770 here for about that price.
 
Do you want circumaural, meaning over the ear headphones?
 
What kind of music do you listen to?

i don't really mind if it's circumaural or not, just need it to be able to silence the noise from outside. also mostly pop and sometimes instrumental pieces.

Do you like something that pronounces the bass somewhat or do you prefer a more neutral sound signature?

A good neutral hp that is closed around $130 is kinda tough. Most closed hp's will be heavier on the bass because the fact they are closed. You might try:

This is not really a category that I'd be considered an expert in. I like a bassier hp in a closed unit. Hopefully someone else will jump in and give you some more suggestions.

Get a pair of grado sr80i if you want something more neutral sounding that doesn't over emphasize the bass!
