As the topic title indicates. I do not have an amp + DAC at the moment either and I would also like to be able to drive these with a smartphone. 
 
I mostly listen to Hands-up or Trance music

Audio Technica M50s, Vmoda M80s, Creative Aurvana Lives, HD25 II's (used).  These would all be good choices for EDM in that price range
