Well FWIR, the HD280 is meant to have heaps of bass but overall has a very boring/lifeless sound.
I would say look more into the M-Audio Q40, Audio Technica es7, AKG k81dj. All of these are closed, suit your portability requirement, stylish enough and are driven easily without an amp.
