Hello, I'm trying to find an affordable way to eq the output from my PC optical connection that I use for my Shiit bifrost. I had an external graphic equalizer but it is broken now so I need something the replace it. I'm not too obsessed with features so long as I can boost/lower the important frequency ranges. Do you have any recommendations?

Look into https://dbxpro.com/en/product_families/equalizers

dbx is a pro audio company with a long standing experience in EQ and sound processing gear for studio use.

Personally I much prefer parametric EQ, you could look into that also.

Now for the hard part, EQ is usually in the analog domain. I don't know an obvious way to EQ an optical connection.

Why don't you just use a software EQ ?
- System-wide : Equalizer APO (free)
- Player-specific : some audio players like foobar2000 have their own integrated EQs, plus they're free
- VST-wise : KVR Qrange is great and is free, if you know how to handle VSTs

All these solutions would allow to EQ your sound before it goes through your optical connection.
