Hello all,
 
     Just getting back into the Head-Fi game after a few-year hiatus. When I left off, my favorite set of headphones was the Sennheiser HD 595. I'm looking for a closed set for some isolation, but I'd like something that sounds similar to the HD 595 - accurate, good soundstage, non-fatiguing, comfortable. What do you guys think? Anything out there for me?

Though I haven't tried them, possibly the Denon D2000?  You might want to do a bit of research on the Denon 2000 to see what impressions you can come up with on their closed build and sound - to see if it might be what you're looking for.

The denon will have big sub bass and impact which is not really like the hd595. What is your budget?

akg k550 has the best soundstage, as a closed can.
 
edit: but frankly, I'm a  bit surprised you want the same sound as  the hd595, I  find them a bit boring.

Thank you - the K550 was one of the pairs I was looking for. I can see how you'd think the HD595 was boring - they are, but boring in a way that I really enjoy and can listen to for hours. I love my Grados but they're a bit more of a workout.

I'd say $150-$300. I'm ok with getting closer to that $300 if it's going to make a huge difference, but cheaper is always better.

+1 on that. The HD5X5/8 series are more mid centric than neutral, a bit boring. With the wrong source I also find them quite grainy and un-refined

What do you guys think about the KRK KNS 8400? I like the price and reviews make them sound pretty neutral.

The KRK is designed as a studio tool to reveal flaws in the recording process. They can be somewhat harsh with poorly recorded music but if you like lots of detail they may be fine. It does have better bass response than the 595. The 595 has some built in dips in the frequency response which give it a mellower forgiving sound. I found the KRK to be very comfortable.
