Hello fellow head-fi'ers.
To date, I've only ever owned single-ended (SE) headphones. Since more and more DAPs are coming out with balanced connections I'd like the ability to tap into this functionality.
I've got a pair of Massdrop HD6XX's on the way, which (with an aftermarket cable) will allow me to use balanced, but I'd like a pair of closed-back headphones as well - since I imagine a lot of the time I'll need closed for sound isolation. Seems to be difficult to find a closed back pair with separate earcup inputs to allow balanced use.
Preferably one that isn't top of the line like Audeze's LCD-XC or the new Sennheiser HD820, I'm thinking more affordable, but prepared to pay a bit above 1000 USD mark if that's what it takes. Detachable cable would be good.
Here's a few options I've found so far:
* MrSpeakers Aeon Closed
* Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd gen
* Audio Technica ATH-W1000Z
* ZMF Eikon
* Audeze EL-8
* Fostex TH-900
* Audioquest Nightowl Carbon
Any tips for other closed backs which allow a balanced input I've overlooked/haven't found appreciated!
