I've been looking at the Audio Technica Solid Bass series for a pair of headphones like this. I also have had a pair of JVC Xtreme Xplosives that were excellent for their $25 price tag. I want a pair with a lot of bass (Min frequencies of around 5 Hz) and decent clarity (not expecting too much from a pair this cheap). Any other headphones I should be considering? I want them to last at least around 6 months; I don't expect any pair of in-ears to last me any longer than that, but I want them to be at least somewhat durable.

Logitech UltimateEars UE500 can be had for $30 and are very decent.

Thanks for the suggestion, but will the bass compare to that of the others on my list? I want it to at least get close to bass head standards.

Philips SHE3590 and monoprice 9927 are both below 20$ but their sound punch above the price by a wide margin

I would give up the search at this stage if you haven't found what you're looking for yet.  Can only beat your head against a wall so long.
