No updated impressions? I just got mine today but I can't use it until Christmas (

) so all I can do is stare at the brown box. Got it brand new for $135 shipped.

Yeah I believe I did read something about that over at the Little-Tube boards... I'll see if I can find the post again.

I do recommend using the jumpers if you are not worried about reduced battery life. Doing so will result in superior sound quality, especially a more dynamic and "lively" sound. Depending on the headphones and their electrical properties (impedance, etc) the improvement can be very significant.

Someone here should try that and see how it sounds.

Sorry for late reply guys, but high gain modes works good on higher impedance cans. It does improve SQ little bit.

Time for a revival!!

This amp sounds totally different than it did when it was new. Out of box it sounded muffled and ss was limited. Now it sound clear, controlled, and punchy with good soundstage. Overall sound is smooth, especially the highs and bass. mids are smooth and full. So in the end the amp gained a little warmth (to my ears).

As for the jumper's I just soldered them closed. SQ does improve a bit on Grado's and AKG's. Not sure if it's worth the dive in battery life... thought the K701 sounds noticeably better with the jumpers closed.

I saw a review that compared it to the MKI a while back and it is interesting how simular and different they are. Even the power has changed a lot, where the MKI used 18v charge the MKI+ is 9.6v and where the MKI had 4x3.7v batteries the MKI+ has 2x3.7V. As a result it looks like it gets 10 extra hours on a change.

As you can see from the old specs and looking at the new specs only the MKI supports

Wow, I also want to point out the lower power output:
MKI+: Power Output: 200mW (32 ohms)
MKI: 500 mW @ 32 ohm, 150 mW @ 120 ohm, 60 mW @ 300 ohm, 30 mW @ 600 ohm

The LME49710 is a pretty good opamp. You'd be hard pressed to find one to replace it that sounds as good. Going by that second thread though, if it only has one opamp, it can't be the 49710 as it's not a dual opamp.
