I want to get a desktop amp, but I'm new to this and don't know whats the difference between tube and solid state. Can any head-fier tell me whats the difference in sound between those 2?

Damn...Tubes look so cool and the sound seems so nicely described.
Would Little Dot Mk-II Power XB700 nicely? Or would it fail?
