Ok I just popped open the recently aquired LDII. There is static in one of the channels. It looks like there is carbon under the 150 ohm 3W resistors? The resistance of all the resistors is still good. As you can see in the photo the resistors look like they are burnt a bit. Could this cause the static even though they are still the correct resistance?

Thanks
James

You need to ask yourself where did the carbon come from? These amps have a reputation for arcing with certain tubes (like the stock ones, from what I recall), although I am not sure what the symptoms of this are.

OK guys looks like it was just a cold solder joint. I re-flowed everything I could and It seems to have cleared up the problem.

I'm still debating on replacing the big resistors that look like they were burnt. It's the 4 3W resistors you see in the pic. Any effect on sound quality? thanks
