When you want to really show off your high-end vinyl rig, what do you play?

I usually use:

1. Dave Brubeck, Time Out, side 1, Classic Records 200g

2. Holly Cole, Temptation, side 1, Classic Records 200g

3. Allison Krauss, So Long, So Wrong, side 2, MFSL 200g

4. Steely Dan, Aja, side 1, Cisco Music 30th anniversary edition

What do you guys use?

I have several good sounding recordings to "show off" the system, but one of my favourites which always leaves people completely floored for the humanity and believability of the voices is an original Parlophone mono of the Beatles' "Help!". This has been with me for more than 30 years.
No "audiophile" pressing that I own has such real sound.

Yeah, I have that, and it's a stunner, no doubt.

These are all great choices, folks! Keep 'em coming!

Any Cat Stevens albums on vinyl.
I like the original recordings the best with Mobile Fidelity second.
These are my favorites.

By the way, this is a listening must for all you Deep Cup Darth lovers!

I don't have a high end system, but I do have some reference quality vinyl for sure.

My top vote would go to Murcof's album "Cosmos". A nice mix of electronic ambient with classical music. 3 12" records at 45rpm. Sounds spectacular.

MOFI UHQR Dark Side of the Moon

MOFI UHQR Tea for the Tillerman

MOFI UHQR Crime of the Century

MOFI (original) Aqualung

Blue by Joni Mitchell 2nd pressing (go figure), and the new Warners reissue

St. Dominics Preview original pressing

While the following are a little too new to be my established reference recordings the recent Cisco reissue of Aja (probably surpasses my orig. MOFI Aja) is stunning as is new MOFIs Alison Krause So Long, So Wrong and AK & Union Station Live. And Classic Records 200g Who's Next is pretty impressive.

I feel the same way that there are some amazing mono recordings out there. It is hard to find clean copies though.

The prize jewel in my collection, that continues to blow people away is my mono Magical Mystery Tour which was pressed with -1 stampers. Forty years later, it still sparkles.

For a modern Beatles recording, I tend to break out the Love album which was apparently pressed in Holland. It is an amazing treat for the ears.

Art Blakey's "Night in Tunisia," Hank Mobley "Soul Station," Horace Parlan "Us 3" from Music Matters.

German & Dutch Decca pressing of Wagner's "Ring" conducted by Solti.

God, so many more, it's tiresome... drank a few too many beers! Will post later...
