You just sold me the stuffed PCB with an OPA2132. I cased it in a black aluminum serpac, and added an 18V switch activated recharge circuit. I have a 2107 right now and like it a lot. Its dynamic, warm, yet doesn't sound as shouty as my pimeta or mints. Sounds very good with my RS1.

What value cerafines are those in your pics? Do they make a big difference over the dublier 470uF caps in mine?

^Thanks Mike

Those appear to be 16V 470uF ELNA Starget and, no, not a big difference over the low ESR dubilier caps that you have actually the dubiliers are probably "cleaner" sounding overall. OPA2107, very nice indeed, you could also try the likes of AD-823 (18V no problems) I'll send one over to you to try if you remind me of your details.

All the best.

Mike.

a hornet and a melos sounds like good taste to me, not light weight.

I have a Raptor. I run my k1000's from a berning power amp. at work I use E500's straight outta an iriver imp-550 portable cdp. an amp would probably improve things there, but I'm ps1/raptor poor for now.

edit- oops forgot, i guess the marantz 2226 too since it has a headphone out. and i don't really think of the SRM-1/MKII as an amp - more of an "energizer" but there you go.

I guess i have a respectable four!

Need?

It's cyclic. When I first signed on to Headfi I sought out headphones and IEMs. At one point I had probably seven high end phones, including a K1000 & RS1 (still have the latter). After using different ones I realized which I had an affinity for and which I could spare.

Now I have four: One ER4, one E500, RS1 & SR225

A brief flirt with upgrading amps, led to this:
Dared MP5
Perreaux Silhouette SL1
RSA XP7
RSA SR 71
RSA Hornet
Xin Supermacro iv
Xin Supermini iv
Xin Supermacro iii
Xin Supermini iii

What happened?

The older Xins had been sent away for repair. I'm shocked at how quickly Doc Xin got them back to me, fully functional and tweaked. Meanwhile I'd spotted a deal on the SM iv, so I grabbed it. That was impulse. I had planned on using the Hornet as my main amp, with the Supermini for travel (should it not be permitted on a plane and so on). My home amp was the Perreaux, which sounds great with the RS1. I also listen to 'phones while in bed. For that I had the SR 71, but decided to upgrade to the XP7.

The Hornet was a planned upgrade.

So it *should* have been Perreaux, Hornet, XP7 & Supermini for contingencies.

Then, after the deal on the Supermacro, another "opportunity" arose to buy the Dared from a local Headphier. Could I pass up the chance to go tubes?

So, obviously some of these have to go. Question is wich. They all sound so darn good. But as with the headphones, I'll eventually dha suits me the best and whittle the collection a bit.

Eventually ....

Andy
