Does anyone know how to read date code on tube? I got these from Facebook market and the seller also did not know the year made. The front says Phillips Miniwatt E88CC. Back says SQ. I dont regret the purchase since these sound amazing compared to the stock ones. Just want more information out of them

Been listening to the Gold Lions for about five hours total now - mostly LCD-X and also the 109 Pro. Just excellent all around.
In your humble opinion how do the Gold Lions sound compared to stock? My LP got lost in shipping and I am waiting for the second one to arrive. Once it does I will be able to gauge from others experiences what tube I should upgrade to or if I need to. $150ish will be my limit for now. I have the Geshelli J2 AKM dac the non stealth Ananda. Upgrading from the XDuoo MT-604, which I really like but the sockets seem to get loose which is why I am upgrading. Luckily the MT-604 was a gift so I am not losing by upgrading.
Thank you

I find the Gold Lions to pair well with both my LCD-X and 109 Pro. They feel a bit more well rounded to me than stock, opening up the sound a bit/slightly more spacious, more clarity across the spectrum especially the highs. I thought the stock was a bit mid forward but still beautiful.

Where are you getting Gold Lions tube from? Thinking about tube rolling my LP.

I grabbed an almost new pair of Gold Lions from eBay for $100 shipped. IMO the stock EV tubes, while still a pleasant listen, have a harder edge and inferior staging/imaging compared to the Gold Lions. And this is comparing EV tubes with around 200 hours to Gold Lions with about 50 hours (allegedly). I was a bit worried the Gold Lions would be a bit harsh, but no, they present real detail with elegance.

My source is a Chord Qutest and I'm driving HD600 (SE) and ZMF Eikon (balanced).

TubeDepot

So far they have shipped fast and have had great customer service, I've ordered 3 sets of tubes from them and returned one. All a good experience.

The stock tubes are definitely inferior right? The gold lions are great all around, they don't really have any noticeable weakness that I have found. I can't say they are the greatest, but they are a fantastic all rounder for all my kinds of music and cans so far. I'm sure some better tubes can be more holographic and maybe a wider stage but these are lovely enough until I hear those.

What is your trick to getting the adapters out of the LP easily, and not by taking it apart :)

How do the HD660S2 compare to HD600? Curious to know, since the HD600 has been my favorite (vs. HD650 / HD6xx).

Well … that is why I have two LPS: one for E88CC / 6922 tubes (no adapters), one for ECC82 / 12AU7 tubes (with adapters).

Damn. I don't have the room for two being out at the same time or it's tempting at the sale price.

You don’t have to keep them both out: one can be ‘at the ready’ (shelf, drawer, cabinet) with tubes installed. I thought that at $339 USD (or $288 USD with a XXX15 promotion) … why not? It’s <= half off the MSRP 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I know this is a LP tube rollers thread(?) but I just wanted to reach out. My LP arrived today. Early because it was supposed to get here Wednesday but late because the first one got lost in transport a week ago.
I was just curious if there are any tips or things I should know before I set it up?
Thank you all.
