If an amp has the ability to provide the additional heater current then this would work. I have bought 7N7 (6SN7) to 6922 adapters from you to use in the Garage 1217 amps. But those amps can provide up to 1.0 amp of heater current. The LP does not have that ability. You can only use tubes that have 0.3 amps of heater current or less. 12AU7 is 0.3A, 5670/2C51 is 0.3A like the 6922.
Adapting an external filament supply you built to the LP would be quite an undertaking even by someone with excellent DIY skills.
The amp sounds great with the stock or NOS 6922 type tubes or the Russian 6N23P. Not bad with 12AU7 and an adapter but the gain is lower which can be good or bad depending on your system. 5670's and an adapter hum in a lot of peoples systems and did so in mine. I found the 5670 unusable.
I am a fan of 12AU7 / ECC82 / ECC802 in Liquid Platinum because of the 20x gain vs the 32x gain in 6922 / E88CC etc. More ‘headroom’ available, more useable volume knob rotation. Plus, for me, top-flight 12AU7 sound better than top-flight 6922.
I do not have any issues with gain so the stock tubes gain is fine with me . I do have all the good USA 12AU7/5814's but my favorite tubes have been some 1971-1973 vintage Voskhod 6N23P. I read how good some of the Reflector 6N23P tubes were but I was not impressed with what I have. Several trials yielded slightly better than the stock tube sound that was a little strident. The Voskhod do everything well and I always find them pleasing and if you buy matched quads directly from Russia they are inexpensive.

I’m very interested to know why the gain is reduced when using 12AU7 / ECC82 / ECC802 tubes? Could these tubes harm my LP? I need some gain reduction when using my LCD-X headphones.
The gain is lower because the tube 12au7 tube inherently has lower gain than the 6922, Tubes have specifications and the mu/ gain of the 12au7 is around 19 and the gain of the 6922 is around 35. There is way more to a tube than the pinout. There is heater current draw, heater voltage, bias, voltage limits etc... Normally you cannot use a 12 volt tube to replace a 6 volt tube but the 12au7 can be wired in parallel for 6 volt operation.
I googled “12au7 converter to 6922” and found a few options - one that caught my eye was this one on Amazon. Am I heading in the right direction? I couldn’t find anything in the description about wired in parallel for 6 volt operations, but am I’m correct in assuming that would be the point of the converter? To make it compatible with the 6922 socket?
I’ll be doing research on the 12au7 tube - but can anyone suggest a tube that might be considered warm?
Those adapters suck. I tried them and they did not even work. There is a head-fier here that makes great quality adapters .... Deyan. He posted back on the previous page. You pay a little more but the quality is top notch, he knows what he is doing and he ships very quickly. I have personally bought several adapters from him and they are excellent in every way.
Yes the adapter would wire the heaters for 6 volt operation.
Everyone has an opinion on warm, clear, bright etc.... It depends on your entire chain. A good NOS(new old stock) 12AU7 is going to be better than any of the new production tubes IMO. Do not go crazy chasing expensive 12AU7 or derivatives. I like Sylvania or RCA black plate 5814's. The 5814 is the military designation for the 12AU7 and can be found very reasonably priced.
Very detailed description of the 12xx tubes. I use Voskhod 6N23P tubes I buy directly from the Ukraine on ebay. Excellent sound, inexpensive, can buy matched pairs/quads, they have always arrived quickly despite the war and no adapter needed. I would put an inexpensive passive volume control in line with the amp to reduce the gain and keep using 6922/ 6N23P's.
Thank you for taking the time to point me in the right direction! Interesting suggestion about a passive volume control…I really didn’t consider this. I’ve been looking at passive preamps from Khozmo, Luminous, and Goldpoint - the Luminous Axiom looks decently priced. Looks like I’ve got a lot factors to consider!
Thanks again for your help - Hope you have a Happy New Year!
That one: not so good. My favourite is from Pulse Tube Store - located in India. PTS makes the adapters for Tubemonger. Shown below:
I use these in Liquid Platinum, in Woo WA2, in Woo WA3. Note: if you install the PTS adapters in LP, be content to leave them in. They are a b#t#h to extract.

So after spending more then a couple of days reading about passive volume control, I ended up grabbing the Nobsound passive preamp based on the positive reviews. Is it perfect? (Shrug) I’m not positive, but for $60 my setup sounds much better, and more importantly it will allow me more time to research while enjoying my new LCD-X now!
I think I’d like to get a Schitt Lokius (if anyone is selling!) to do some light EQ’ing. I liked what I heard using the EQ on the MOJO2 (w/ a Cayin C9 amp). I think it make sense to tune the headphones to my liking before i start down the path of tubes…
