I've been using Asunder to rip my CD's to FLAC on my system running Linux Mint 17.1. A lot of the files have been coming out with really bad popping or hissing. Does anybody have any tips or tricks about how to rip their CD's, or does anybody use a different encoder all together that works better?

Thanks,

K3B is a good ripping tool for Linux.

Rubyripper is a secure ripper like EAC for Windows. It tests and compares blocks multiple times.. I've used it for a few years.

I'm trying k3b. It seems really solid. I'll try rubyripper when I get around to installing it. k3b was just so much easier with an apt-get install.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Always get excellent rips using the command line program called 'abcde'. Plenty of info on the net on how to get up and running with it.

Another vote for RubyRipper I think I'm using the latest 0.6.2, not the fastest, but then we're after quality.

As a side note, I use Kid3 for tagging the said flac files, adding cover art is just too easy.
