Hey everybody, here's my current portable setup:

iPod Nano - Self Made CMOY - MDR-V6. It's perfect for the kind of music I like to listen to on the run.

I'm curious of the impact of a line-out though. Any suggestions on a good line out? Something between 20-40$? 30 seems about right for this system.

If you can do a Cmoy. I believe you can make your own dock to your specifications and liking and way within your budget.

I don't see a location on your profile. But I guess you can try to hunt down Canare Starquad or mogami for cables. And add in some nice neutric or canare plugs.

The apple Dock can be bought on-line. I used to buy from the site below. but surprisingly more than a few electronics shops here in SG sell the Dock for DIY even cheaper. Try to hunt around in your location.

But if not in the mood to DIY try hunting down a used one at the FS on the site. =)
