The following upgrades will not be listed because we have incorporated them within the Wave:

2015 ESS DAC 9018AQ2M Upgrade
Standalone DAC Upgrade
Dual ESS 9018M DAC's Upgrade
"

... which seems to be true since those upgrades are not mentioned on the "Wave upgrades" site.
Which also means - and you said that already - that a lot of us just blew $128 (maybe more... Not 100% sure if the prices varied) into the wind.

Wait... the idea just sank in that is suggests that ALL WAVES, including the 64 and 128 are getting the Dual DAC option and Standalone DAC option. That would seem to be significant free upgrades for ~1000 or so backers.

J.P.

And a lot of people perked for the Dual DAC ($68) and Stand Alone ($38) plus another $22 for Q2M DAC upgrade as separate perks.  Would be nice if they upgraded those of us that did, to at least the X or XD version of the 64.  Oh well, the price the early adopters pay, I suppose.

I just want to get them in hand at this point!

Disappointing, as a backer to drop over $1500 and be treated like this.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who backed for an iPhone version during the very original Wave campaign, before the complete redesign that turned it into a DAP. Our pledges ran $30 more than the same device for Android users and that difference has never been credited back as far as I can see. That said, the fact that one can see something coming doesn't make it sting any less; often quite the opposite.

My DAD version Wave did not have all upgrades in the order management system, so after submitting a support ticket, Gina added all of my upgrades and provided an ETA of late Q2-Q3 (I assume of this year).  It's obviously been years in the making and I'm still waiting for my ViDac Tube, so take it for what it's worth.

They said that they should be done importing all of the wave backers into the new system by the end of this week. Knowing LH Labs tendency to run well behind schedule, it your Wave may not show up in the system for a couple of weeks yet.

In a similar vein, interesting to hear their estimate of Q3, so they may actually start shipping before the end of this year. Yes, even this optimist has become pessimistic about LH Labs. We certainly have enough history to base that on.

I´m puzzled again...this time related to the latest DAC discussion.

Questions:

1) Which DAC IC will be implemented in the Waves?
  1. will it be the ESS DAC 9018AQ2M  or
  2. the ESS DAC 9028Q2M or
  3. are both the same (and the former was just renamed to the latter)?

2) Is my understanding correct that "Dual ESS 9018M DAC’s Upgrade" perk means that we will get two of the in 1) mentioned DAC IC´s?

3) What´s the difference of a X128 with "Dual Dac Upgrade" compared to a XD128? Should "only" be the IV and LPF & Amp parts which differ from the XD, or?
Processors and DAC part should be the same as with the XD, right?

Thanks in advcance.

The ES9018M will be upgraded to ES9018AQ2M (as I understand it, everybody?).

According to Larry, ES9018AQ2M is now rebadged as ES9028Q2M.

As to difference with X w/ dual DAC and XD difference. The picture says it all. IMO, you will have the same DAC as XD period. Processors, IV, LPF differs.

But they are trimming down the matrix. I don't know what will you be getting at the end.

Yep....that would be my understanding, too.

For the X w Dual Dac perk it should look like this:

But.....will it really look like this? Only Mighty Larry knows..

I believe, if you went for the dual and standalone DAC perks for a GW 64, the only difference would be at the headphone amp.  You would get a single, not dual, chip headphone amp.  With the XD you would get dual IV's, dual LPF & AMP's and dual headphone amps.  Not sure of the X gets you dual headphone amps or not.
