The shutting down of the 3 of 4 dacs during low quality audio i believe refers to in the case of video calls, non hd phone calls as well as low bit rate video audio and probably audio via speakerphone. No proof, just my interpretation of what Lg engineers most likely referring to in the article. Makes no sense that low impedence would equal a lower quality audio especially since many high quality earphones are of the low impedence variety.

I installed the Pioneer DEH‑80PRS in my car and plugged in the LG V20 via Aux with the Shure impedance adapter(enables high impedance mode on the V20) and it sounds stunning. Rich, powerful and detailed sound. Go Pioneer and LG!

As long as into high impedance gain mode , everything sounds beautifully .

Amen to that. I have not received a single update that I know of since I've had my H990...on Vodacom in South Africa.

In my case , after i bought the phone early this month , i did a total of 3 ota updates and now my version is V10e-sea-xx , the latest in Singapore right now .

And yeah , May the Gods kick the right sense into the minds of those LG engineers ..

I doubt anyone the general public can directly query has any understanding of how the DAC works in the first place, so at best you'd get some parroting of their marketing material

I know most of the talk in here is about the quad dac but i just purchased a pair of the new Audio Technica ATH-DSR9BT's which have AptX HD. Only thing I can say is these have extremely crisp full sound with the V20! I haven't fully broken them in yet so i can only imagine what they're going to sound like after 20-40 hours of use but 1st impressions are very good.

For me personally , whether or not the quad mode is on / off is made no huge difference .
Regardless Quad on or off , without the activation of the high impedance gain mode , the V20 sounds really bad and lacks the power to drive my 41ohms .
Sonically , it depends largely on its high gain impedance mode .
It sounds much full bodied much much more enjoyable when high gain mode is enabled , as compared to low gain normal mode .
At least in my case this is what I had experiencing with the aurisonics asg 2.5 .
