LG V20 Sound Quality

Collin,
Sorry, my V20 arrived yesterday, but had issues with Verizon initializing it. No time to play too much today (work)... Will say P1 do sound very good on v20 with Hi-Fi (4dac) mode, better than my other mobile phones for sure. But I also use Poweramp (Alpha) with lots of tweaks/custom EQs, as my player. Even if not in hi-impedence, it is playing plenty loud with good dynamics...

Are the people with the P1 using the cable with the headset controls?

I'm not. Didn't notice a difference that I can recall, but the placebo effect of "it's da awdiofile cabul" part of my brain keeps me using that one.

The reason I ask is because I'm pretty sure the amp won't kick into high gain if it sees headset controls.

Jason,
You're onto something. Absolutely does go into hi-impedance mode with the non-control cord attached. I was using a control cord last time (although it's not the Mee cord, mine has volume control/track buttons)... Need some time to A/B. Definitely LOUDER, but not sure if SQ is greatly improved...

That info for LG's audiophile phones has been public for over a year.

You guys really need to start searching through these threads and read up on the V10 as well (since it operates the exact same way).

Well, I for one have read through THIS entire thread, and as I don't own the V10 (a discontinued model) or plan to get one, what's your point? Isn't this a thread for the LG v20 SQ? Also, you think every feature is exactly the same from one model to another after a few years? Why didn't you pipe in with a helpful answer, since you're so more knowledgeable than anyone else here?

I said search. Who 'reads' every word of a 50 page thread?

From a mere 20 hours ago in THIS very thread:

Unfortunately, my suspicions were confirmed about the implementation of the ES9218 DAC:
The following is from the developer of the NeutronMP player:
According your logs (Thank you for making them!) OS declares only one
(!!!) frequency - 48000 kHz. You can see it in logs:
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: device 0
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: id = 1
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: type = 1
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: name = LG-LS997
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: is sink = 1
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: is source = 0
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: channels [1]:
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| - 1
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: sample rates [1]:
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| - 48000
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| enum: sample types [1]:
[13:08:16] I <SFX>| - 2
It means firmware does not expose Hi-Fi DAC via this new API. Why LG can not make it and expose DAC and solve the problem with using full potential of the device - puzzle. Neutron would use it automatically if DAC is exposed by the firmware.

This guy has posted the same thing on every Android forum. Please don't feed the trolls.....

Just got my V20. Nice.

Some things for the impedance mode tweakers:

You only need to disconnect the right channel to get the external mode.

I bought a cheap inline headphone cable, one with a sliding volume (rotary should be the same). Set it to minimum when plugging in, then slide it to max, and voila high impedance mode.

Now I can listen to my quietest recording on the Sines: Rage Against the Machine (yes really!) from Audio Fidelity.
