The high outout mode comes on at 50ohms. So whatever gets you to 50 or more ohms.

With my 64ohm Brainwavz HM5 I typically listen at 15-25 out of 75. The HM5 is somewhat high impedance, but is pretty sensitive. With my 62ohm Q701, being slightly less sensitive I listen to them at 25-35 out of 75. For my listening habbits there is always plenty of power. Even with my lower impedance iem's that dont trigger the higher output I still never exceed 40 out of 75.

You must be in a soundproof room, and have have extremely sensitive hearing. With my Q 701 I need to be at around 50-55 at least for comfortable levels, of course this depends on the recording, as I don't use any level matching settings. I also have my ears checked yearly, and no damage been found so far.

+1

I also listen at 50-55 with a few different headphones. Checked my hearing again and still normal. Can't imagine how it must be to have hearing that sensitive.

How loudly do you like to listen?

The intro(first 2 minutes or so) to the Opeth song Blackwater Park measures about 75db average at 35 out of 75. At 50 out of 75 the volume with the same section of the same song increases to about 85db or so average which to me is just to loud. This is a flac rip direct from the original cd played through the stock LG music player app.

When i was younger i liked louder music, but now days i really dont. Even just going out to a bar to see a live local band i can barely stand it.

I have an adapter for my Th900, and it works like a charm. Huge difference when I plug that in first. Definitely a much better sound.

So the AUX adapter which triggers the High Output Amp

Very similar...since majority of my headphones have detachable cables, I just plug the cable in first to the LG V10 and then attach the headphones to the other end of the cable.
This triggers the 32 bit DAC's AUX mode...increase and fidelity of audio is definitely heard.

With my Sony MDR-XB90EX IEM which aren't detachable, I use the cable adapter from my daughter's LifeProof case...does the same thing.

Does it display anything different on the phone? Volume will go past 75 right? At work I plug my phone into my old Bose Sound Wave via RCA to 3.5. I wonder if plugging into phone then plugging in RCA end will trigger it

The Hi-Fi DAC volume will display that it is connected to an external source...the volume will still be limited to 75, but volume will be increased.

Not sure if it will work since I've had no experience with the Bose Sound Wave, but worth a try.

Hi, does anyone have the Massdrop k7xx and a desktop setup they can compare with the lg v10?
I just got the k7xx today but they seem a bit thin and simbilant. Maybe they need to break in but I'm not sure.

Just burn them in. At first listen I said to myself "ok this is going to the sale if sound doesn't change...". Now its one my fav full sized hp :)
