the dt02 dac bundled with s12 seems much less powerfull than e1da 9038s, is it just a commercial bundle with a dac that may not be a good match for s12 ?
well the e1da is double the price.. and some people have said they tested S12 simply out of a phone and they were happy with the results.. even cheap dongles seem to be enough but I'm not sure as I haven't got my set yet

I have the Qudelix and will test the S12 with it in a couple weeks. I didn't buy a balanced cable because 4.4 to 2.5 adapter was as expensive as a new 2.5 mm cable, so I'll be using SE.

would you say the timeless does anything better than the S12?
according to the guy who does comparison 7hz/s12 on youtube, "7hz has more sub-bass. Mid-bass and upper bass are on the same level. Overall I find the sound of the S12 smoother - Mids and highs are more refined and clear - fit, comfort and looks of the S12 are way better than the Timeless - S12 has the lower price - excellent 2-pin cable - Timeless has more sub bass rumble "
according to precog that gave 7hz and s12 the same grade of 5.8 (quite good) "s12 is More resolving than the Timeless, but even brighter. Tonality still remains the bottleneck to the planar IEM landscape" "

Until people listen to the S12 and give them some time to burn in, all the talk will just be that. From those of us who have the S12 including myself, I can assure you that the S12 is excellent. As long as you don't expect the moon you will realise that the S12 is just simply....very, very good. All the graphs in the world will not get that planar sound over to you. Bass and mids are excellent and yes the treble extension could be a little better. A planar with excellent bass! These are now my go to IEMs and I have 50 IEMs.

I personally really liked the Timeless and had no big gripes about it. In fact, I liked it more than my coworker's FiiO FD7, which sounded tall but not expansive and had more bass presence. I preferred the Timeless and I enjoy the planar sound. Can't wait to compare the S12.

Interesting discussion by Jude Mansilla talking about graphs, measurements, and how people hear the headphones differently after seeing graphs. Very helpful, grounding video.

just bought the s12, what would be a good choice of affordable dac with 4.4mm to power s12 ?:
- tempotec sonata e44 175mw for $83
- fiio ka3 240mw for $97
I'm a big fan of Qudelix. Just need to buy a 4.4--> 2.5mm adapter. You get 280 mW, Bluetooth, and PEQ.

i have the e44, but have not heard the fiio or qudelix. the 4V RMS on the e44 comes in handy for IEMs that scale with power

if you're wanting BT and PEQ, the Qudelix is the way to go. im interested in getting one myself
