Let's vote! The RPX wins:)

Tough choice, especially with two being new contenders. I've always been an RSA fan (always will be), and I did get to spend time with the Gilmore Reference, which I understand to be the predecessor to the GS-X.

However, based on a few reviews, the mention of perfect synergy with my Edition 9, and a bit of a leap of faith, I purchased a Rudistor RPX-33. It is simply one of the finest SS amps I've heard, and certainly the most organic sounding; best bang-for-buck I've experienced to date in this crazy-ass hobby. With the understanding that the RPX-100 is close/maybe even slightly better, single-ended speaking, and with the option to go balanced and another source input plus pre-amp, I've already made the jump up to the RPX-100 and have one on the way.

Hmmm, having made a short story long, my answer is, RPX-100

Ordered a RPX-100 in June.

Reasons:-
1. Have tried RSA before. Owned a Raptor, and a Hornet (sold)
2. Similar topology as RPX010 MkII, which I think is the ultimae SS
3. Full discrete design
4. Smaller footprint
5. Versatility - SE and balanced mix
6. Simplicity
7. Better pricing (shipment included in price)
8. Faster delivery (less than 3 weeks)

Have it now for 2 weeks. It is worth every dollar I spent. Even with SE phones, the PRX-100 has best all my previous SS collections, and have a good resemblance of the slight warmth and texture of my WA6, but excel in power, speed, depth, impact, dynamics, and resolution.

With my balanced HD650 and K701 (both with Equinox LE), the RPX-100 is just amazing. However, I won't be drawing any conclusion yet as the cables and the K701 are still under burn-in and haven't settled down yet.

And I am done for now.

I've understod that the Apache isn't as neutral as it should be...someone wrote that it "ads" to the music...that to me sounds more than strange. High fidelity shouldn't be anything else than just high fidelity! So it leans tords the RPX-100.

Well Done.

I do not think you will regret your decision, my RPX-100 is very good I fully enjoy the experience of a good dedicated HP Amp after years of using the headphone outs of intergrated Amplifiers.

Yup, I too can vouch for the Rudistor esp in conjunction with the HD650s... the best sound possible out of a sub 1.5k headphone and sub 10,000 dollar amp. Of course it does have a less solidstatey sound than the GS-X. However, it probably is a bit more neutral than the Apache.

I think best closed phones to use with Rudistor is probably Edition 9's or other closed Ultrasones. They have proven synergy with Rudistor.

I'd guess that CD3000 would do a good job as well since I seem to have good luck with Sony and Rudistor amps.

I can't say that I'd recommend Audio Technicas including the L3000 with it... I feel those cans need a nice tube amp to reallyyy sound their best or their AT solid state amp counterparts (W5000/W2002/DHA3000).

I just quote Rudi's comment in one of our email communications : a good amp should works well with all headphones.

And he is right. My RPX-100 works extremely well with HD650 (SE & balanced), K701(SE & balanced), Edition 9, L3000, and the RS-1.

What an amp !

Ah, this thread makes me want to "upgrade" my RPX-33 to RPX-100.

I'd go for RPX-100, because even my Single-ended HD600 with stock cable shines on RPX-33, transformed to another level that I've never heard it before, there's some amazing synergy there. The RPX-33 also sounds very good with my Grado PS-1, Ed9, DT990 '05.

I have tried Gilmore V2, SR-71, Hornet, Raptor previously.
