No, they are the same, the V2 has a detachable cable. I said V1 because I don't know if you can find a used V2 for less than 1k

I am listening to most metal with HiFiMan HE6se that are under 600 on Adoma. They need some power, but sound great. I mostly use them for DAC listening with some vinyl from time to time. The bulk of my music would be metal, electronic, punk, prog rock and ambient.General question about gear, I hear people mention Fostex cans as being great for metal, any other suggestions? I'm looking for under 1K general range and can be powered from portable gear?

Well I found a used pair of TH900Mk2's so those should be showing up soon. I had some years ago and I regret selling them, but I was not listening to much metal at the time. I like extreme brutal deathmetal of the more dissonant and technical side of things which is about as challenging a form of music to reproduce in its own way as orchestral classical. Speed+bass+dissonance sounds like garbage on inadequate gear, from what I remember of the TH900's they could do it. I'm sure Hifiman is good too, maybe even better, but I kind of wanted some closed backs. I like the sonic isolation and I like the kind of immersive closed in feelingI am listening to most metal with HiFiMan HE6se that are under 600 on Adoma. They need some power, but sound great. A friend of mine is a part of the band Callous Minds, playing the guitar, and their latest single (probably the first) totally blew my mind. I urge you all to take a listen. I was sick when I played it, and I got totally entranced and was vibing so hard:
