Lets Talk Metal

I think you'd be surprised at the number of children that don't have reliable access to internet, let alone high speed internet. The crap that ends up on the radio is mostly the music label's doing anyway. It just shows how out of touch they are when a lot of the new bigger acts, in POP, let alone Metal are springing up from internet fame and good ole fashioned touring rather than going to the Corporate Overlords hat in hand looking for a contract.

I mean I'm sure they're out there, but I don't think in this day and age it's super common except if you're way out in the sticks. I mean in most cities the cheapest internet package is like $30/mo or so, and I can't imagine many families are unable to swing that.

You're spot-on about radio, though. I knew a radio DJ and the crap he would tell about it was nuts. A guy on Reddit did an AMA, too, that was really eye opening. Makes you realize that we're far past the days when a band like Maiden could get huge without a major label to promote them.

Hardly a preview, but here's the first taste of the upcoming Moonspell album 1755.

To compensate for the lack of available new content, here are all their old music videos, lyric videos, etc. (18 tracks. Some not safe for work!)

Well lookie here...he's wearing an HD 650!

Shining has completed their tenth studio album, which will be entitled X – Varg Utan Flock. (Wolf Without A Pack) Comments from Niklas Kvarforth:

It has been an ordeal of gigantic proportions, but I am pleased to announce that the recording of our tenth album have now come to an end, and I am currently working on the final visual details before this aural nightmare can be sent off to our label and **** up your lives.

X – Varg Utan Flock‘ is the direct follow up to our fifth album, but, as usual it does contain a few unexpected twists and turns that will send cold shivers down your spines. It was an honour to serve for two decades as the grand puppet-master and bringer of chaos.

Let there be Blood!

I'm not sure why Linkin Park is featured on the 2017 in heavy metal music Wikipedia article. Their new album is pop, not metal. I loved their debut album back in the day. Chester Bennington (main vocalist) hung himself just three days ago. One of my (female) friends was really upset about that.

TBH an album can be brickwalled to **** and back if it's done to the benefit of the music. I've pulled up too many "full dynamic range" re-releases (Carcass's Heartwork springs to mind) and ended up preferring the non-FDR version.

Also, I gotta say that I, Voidhanger is quickly becoming my favorite label.
