In the early 1970s they would play the quad version of Dark Side Of The Moon really loud in Planetariums with laser shows on the ceiling, all the seats were leaning back so you could look up at the show. I went to that once.
yup, they're SQ and CD-4. my only quad LP is jefferson airplane....it's CD-4 and i've never played it, i don't have the gears. i've never heard the cosmic jokers, if you like it i'll have to check out an album (if i can find a CD copy LOL). nowadays, DSP decoders sound very, very good even with 2-channel source...but nothing beats a well done true multichannel mix. the metallica dvd-A has some amazing moments in the mix that don't sound the same if simply up-sampling the 2-channel version of the album.
they still do those planetarium shows (or at least did in the late 80's), when i was a teenager we used to go see them...trippy stuff

Also, I am so psyched for this Spectral Lore/Nachtreich split:
If nothing else, the bits from 3:20-7:17 are whats got me hyped. True intersection of black metal and classical elements. I always love it when a band (or bands, in this case) do it right.
Oh hell yeah. I love it. Makes everything sound brutal on every pair of headphones and it takes up barely any desk space. It's a beautiful thing indeed.
