As this is a metal head area. What are good iems under £600 for a black/death/doom fan?

Any of the Etymotics, though they may be slightly piercing so you may need to eq 2-5khz down a little. The hifiman RE400s are nice. The Audeze isines if you dont need the noise blocking. Most of the shures 3xx and up are really nice. Westone w40 or w60. Imo just avoid punchy scooped mid loose bass models like bose, sennheisers, 1mores, denon, audio technica, brainwavz etc. Unless you like that signature of course ;] i use the bose soundtrue ultras for the tips but i have to eq 4-800hz up and 2-6khz down to get a sound a like for death metal.

I'm thinking audeze sines as I could then hear if phone rings in work. How much noise do they leak and is 20 much better than 10?

Being in ears they shouldnt leak that bad because theyre not playing as loud as over ears. The isine10 is pretty similar, both need the cipher cable or some heavy handed equalization, read the innerfidelity review if youre interested. https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/audeze-isine-20-planar-magnetic-ear-earphone . Theres also the LX now

Awesome thanks. The only concern with isine is that it's set for apple users. I'll be plugging mine into a fiio q5. How do you eq yours?

I use the toneboosters parametric eq built into UAPP on an android phone. Whats your Q5 plugged into?
