Larger headband for Alessandro MS-1

Your stated price range is $50-$200. I got DT880s for $199 total off ebay. Saw DT990s for even less last week. DT770s are ~$160 ebay price and fit big heads too. You can get 80 ohm DT770s (if you need low ohms) but they're closed cans. I'm throwing these out there because these full cans will sound far better for the price than any IEM/earbuds or open headphones. The Beyerdynamics are super comfy, fit any head bigger than kidsize and IMO have the best sound you can get for <$200.

You're right, the DT 880s are available for $199 on ebay right now. But it looks like I'm going to miss that sale because I'd like to get people's opinions on this site for a little while longer. I guess I overestimated how much I'm willing to spend as well, so I'll lower the range in my first post.

Despite my previous post I'm seriously considering those DT 880s. If I had been reading the for sale forum a week earlier I could've bought a used bloat for $140. That would have been a good combination with the 880s. But it would still be missing something. Some of the music I listen to has a lot of bass and I've gotten used to having that with my current 'phones. Maybe I should skip the new headphones and just get the amp.

I received my Yuin PK2s and have been burning them in for about 30 hours now. They are more detailed than my old headphones but are lacking the low-bass. Right now I feel that the incremental increase in detail isn't worth the loss of the low end. I was actually hoping to be as stunned as the first time I heard headphones with neodymium magnets. But I think I'd have to go to electrostatics in order to achieve that. Still, I didn't like my KSC50s when I first got them. I thought there was too much bass and there was this metallic tinge in the sound. They still sound the same, I just got used to them. So maybe I should hold on to these PK2s for a while to see if I get used to them.

I guess in my first post I was describing my dream 'phones from some time ago. I used to listen exclusively to classical music, but my listening habits have changed. Vanessa-Mae is probably the closest thing to classical that I regularly listen to. Perhaps my KSC50s even played a role in this change.

Anyways, with the music I listen to, I think that Alessandro MS-1s would be a logical upgrade from the KSC50s. Does anyone know if it's possible to put a larger headband on the MS-1s?

Thanks for the link. I mean wider as in the distance between the left and right earphones. I've tried Grado SR60s before and they squeezed my ears too much, particularly at the tops of my ears. It's possible to bend the headband into an upside down [_] shape which alleviates the problem but then the headband only makes contact at the very top of one's head. It looks and feels kind of odd like this.
