giys it's not nice to pit down someone's idea for an expensive amp. We all here or most have some expensive stuff , that maybe could have been cheaper .

I do intend if I have time to try it . I also have a fiend who had it on loan and loved it. It was warm of neutral but very nice. I was supposed to,go listen to it but Did not have time
Regret gother amps to buy . I must have listened to about 12 Amos for the he6 . Fact is speaker amps are not the best choice for headphones although some are very good . But a dedicated Headphone amp does beat them.
Just some thoughts

I just happen to be the one that disagree.  I've had more a 12 amp experience, I've come a very long way and for the money (lets say 7K) no headphone amp can touch a speaker amp at that price..

I trust your experience , but still sometimes a made for the purpose is just better . But it does come down to choice

Yup, Pass. I've heard only good things from credible people about what Nelson Pass does. Transparency of Big7 or Level7 plus Pass texture, and organic presentation of those bricks, damn...

Yet, on that high price levels there are also Crayon CHA-1 and Goldmund Telos...

OK, time to get back to Earth now.

Total tube noob here, so apologies for stupid questions in advance.

My (used) B7 arrives tomorrow, with a pair of "Sylvana 6A3" and "EML 45 solid". What type of sound flavour will these tubes give me? Are there any installation / operating guidelines I should follow?

I'm also looking at getting a pair of Psavane WE 101D replicas. Would I need the long pin (101D-L) or short pin (101D) version. Are there 'fake' replicas around, what would I need to look for to spot a fake?

Thanks in advance!

Get the 101D long pin. Two pins are fat two are thin

The eml 45 is a good place to start its full bodied sound and gives the deatils and sole of the DAC.

The 6A3 is more deatiled and up close permeation . But still has body.
The 101 d is a detail monster but dose get a bit thin on some systems.
Before you get the 101 D get the ps vane we300B it's more thick and still detailed then the eml45.
But it's your choice. The 101D and the 300 B are on the opposites sides of the sound.
Now the eml45 SW up and the 6A3 up or down check both out . See what you like not what others tell you.
My words are a guide not gospel . Only Jesus is godly for me and I listen to my brain there too.

I can only add, that I've listened to those Psvane WE replicas, Electro Harmonix 2A3 and Shuguang 2A3-T. WE101D-L were hands down the best. But that's my take on it. I like my L7 for it's openess, effortless, incredible punchness and huuuuuge space. Though it's fair to say that rest of the setup isn't thin, so it all goes nicely together.

Even when you don't have a Lampi DAC, reading the manual has some general good value advice (AC cable, digi cable, fuses, rack, feet etc.). Lukasz seems to know what he's doing and he's always doling out a helping of common sense

. Just browsing his website is quite interesting. With the $/Eur exchange rate his products become significantly cheaper outside Europe
