The sennheiser mx500 is priced at 17.99.

The Koss ksc50 at 19.99, or if lucky 14.99 at Circuit City (if they still offer it at this price)

So which is better in terms of sound and value?

(I made this topic for the future portable (budget) buyers outthere). please leave the ksc35 out of discussion because i dont see it in stores.

I also made a poll, so please vote.

When I was in the hifi shop where I bought the KSC35 today I also tried the KSC50 for a couple of minutes, and even though they sound fairly similar to the KSC35 (except that bass that I found a bit lacking) I found them a bit too heavy and the fit a bit too loose for comfort. The MX500 on the other hand are rather big for earbuds so they can be a bit difficult to fit in your ears. Otherwise it depends on what kind of sound you prefer, the MX500 with foamies are smoother while the KSC50 are more detailed with slightly shrill highs.

It's a local shop here in Sweden and they cost me $50, but then again so do the KSC50 over here.

My first good phones were the MX500 and they cost me $20 2 years ago, so I know what you're saying

I have both and I prefer the MX500 in terms of sound and value. The KSC-50's sound good for their price, but they offer little value to me since they don't work well for me portably. I like the MX500 sound overall better than the KSC-50 since they don't seem to have as murky of bass and they don't sound like they are being held away from my ears.
