KOSS A250 from KOSS eBay thread

By the way. I am posting and listening to my Koss now while my K 701's are sitting on the side still plugged in and running. Told my wife I can't hear her and to tap me on the shoulder if she needs anything. LOL

Good soundstage - very open, somewhat laid back. It's a little more forward in some areas than the HD6xx's but not by much. Fantastic bass response - clean, clear and tight. It's very hard to describe exactly, plus it needs some more burn in, but I'd still say this is a top tier headphone!

Got my A250 too. What a steal!

I got the best sound when I place my ears above the drivers (in the upper corner of the ear cup). The bass is much improved this way and high is slighted tamed, which is good IMO since the phones seem to emphasize the high frequency a little bit. Overall, the sound becomes more organic.

I must have done something good in my previous life. KSC75 ($10, a bargain), im716($70, accuracy) and now A250($45, detail, soundstage, and musicality). It just can't get better than this!

Yes, the SQ of A250's belongs to the major league -- it is better than than that of K240M (I owned) and DT831 (I listened to many times) at least (IMO, of course). The sound signature somehow reminds me of RCA's LivingStereo recordings.

wow, just realised i had the volume control waaaay down on the indigo..

these cans are even better with a bit of juice behind them..

the bass seems to have more umm texture than i'd have thought...

kinda hard to describe, but very nice and very pleasant with acoutic bass sounds.

heck even my wife thinks the aren't that ugly.. high praise from her

I've had a love/hate relationship with Koss headphones for nearly 40 years. They'd do some things right and some other things horribly wrong. About 15 years ago it seemed they were getting back on track. The good mini-phones (Porta Pro, KTX-1, KSC-35) were surprisingly good and I confess I always wondered about the A250. It looked right. But was it? Open back, lightweight construction, neodymium magnets... yup, all the ingredients were there.. But even on closeout it was too expensive to take a chance on.

Well, for 43 bucks I can afford to find out, thanks to good ol' Head-Fi.

And of course I can paint a shoebox black and pretend I have ESP 950s.

Alrighty, I pulled the trigger

And I told them if they could consolidate the shipping I'd go in for a pair of A130s too! We'll see how that works out...

If you already have a top notch amp, I would be mighty surprised if the ESP950's were better than these. Hard to know how good the phones are with that horrible amp that comes with them though.

The deals are out there. The key is knowing what you enjoy, what sounds good and what makes you happy. If no one else likes what you like... you can score sweet deals here and on ebay.
